Count On Me

Counting Jars are one of the easiest and most popular Math Centers. I like to use the big plastic jars that mixed nuts come in from Costco. Use colored Contac paper to cover the label, then a white sticker to mark the letter on the side AND the lid (for easier matching.)

Then just fill these babies up with any ole countable item... here Connor enjoys tallying up some bugs. The worksheet is easy too, just pictures of jars with the letters on them and a box underneath for recording the number.

Be sure to teach them how to pour the items into the lid and count them back INTO the jar.... important for things that might roll away.

You can use these for estimation jars too; guess the number first, then count.

  1. I really like that it's all the same shape just different colors, sometimes we make it much more complicated than it has to be! Thanks for sharing, Glad I found your blog!
